“Bloody
hell, that’s a bit controversial,” Ben commented. “Oi, controversial, but a great twist ending,” the
clerk replied. He grabbed a video from a shelf, this time the cover was all brown, and the cover showed a woman getting a
knife shoved in her throat. The clerk said, “This one’s called “Looking For Myself”.”
HOUSE IN LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND
A man is reading a newspaper. The newspaper’s headline reads:
“Exclusive Story: 5th Year Anniversary Of Movie Set Killings Haunts Every Ones
Memories. The Whole Story Behind The Unsolved Murders Is Told!”
The man puts down the paper.
Maxwell: Of course! Why didn’t I think of it before?
He gets up from the chair he was sitting on and rushes downstairs to his basement carrying his
newspaper.
Maxwell: Can’t believe I’ve never thought of doing it!
He walked over to a covered object. He yanked the cover off the object revealing a weird looking
machine.
Maxwell: The perfect bloody plan and I’ve never done it!
He pressed a bunch of buttons on the machine.
Maxwell: April 21, 2000. The day
the killings on the movie set of “Maniac” began.
He typed in April 21, 2000 on the
time machine. He then typed in “London, England”.
Maxwell: Where’s the street where that movie was filmed? Oh yeah.
He typed in 909 Mustard Avenue,
Studio 21.
He got inside the machine. He sat down in a chair and buckled his seatbelt. He pulled down a lever.
The machine with Maxwell in it disappeared.
STUDIO 21
Maxwell appears outside of a building that says STUDIO 21 on it.
Maxwell: Better hide the bloody time machine.
He pushes the time machine near a corner of the studio wall. He then finds a cover near the studio
and covers the time machine with it.
Maxwell: That should take care of the time machine for now. I don’t think anybody should
notice me here considering how busy it is.
Maxwell walks inside the movie studio and sits in a chair.
Nobody notices him sitting there for they’re
all busy running around everywhere.
Maxwell: Aye, the first murder victim is an actress named Pam Sadie. Played one of the supporting
characters in the film. According to the paper she was murdered in her trailer outside of the studio tonight at seven.
He stared at the clock on the wall of the studio.
Maxwell: Why it’s five now? Time flies.
He got up from the table and walked to a man who was talking to everyone, wearing headphones. Maxwell
tapped on the man’s shoulder.
Man: How can I help you, mate?
Maxwell: I’m from the makeup department can you tell me where Pam Sadie’s trailer is?
Man: Outside the studio, first trailer on the right.
Maxwell: Aye thanks, Sir.
Maxwell walked outside of the studio and went to a nearby stand serving food to all the workers.
When he got his food, he sat in a table that wasn’t far away from Pam’s trailer.
1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES LATER…
Maxwell got up from the table and started walking to Pam’s trailer. He knocked on the trailer
door.
Pam ( from inside): Who is it?
Maxwell: Makeup Department.
Pam: I’m not filming any scenes tonight.
Maxwell: Change of plans. Please open the door.
Pam: But…AHH!!
Maxwell: Oh Bloody Hell!
He quickly busted the door open and ran inside the trailer. He saw a masked figure shoving a knife
in Pam’s throat.
Maxwell: You bloody arsehole.
Maxwell lunged towards the murderer. The murderer hit Maxwell with its fist knocking Maxwell on
the ground. The killer threw Pam’s body on the floor and ran out of the trailer.
Maxwell: Shit! It got away. Better get out of here before somebody shows up.
He got up off the ground and ran out the trailer. He caught a glimpse of the masked killer who
was getting in a car and driving off.
Maxwell: Too late.
He walked off the movie set.
LATER THAT NIGHT
MOTEL ROOM
Maxwell sits in his motel room with the newspaper in his hands.
Maxwell: The second victim was Albert Halsey, a set designer for the movie. He was murdered April 23, 2000 at night in his house which is near the movie set. That’s
two nights from now. I have to stop that sick killer this time. Can’t believe I let it get away tonight.
April 23, 2000
ALBERT’S HOUSE
Maxwell is walking around Albert Halsey’s front yard. He hears glass being shattered.
Maxwell: Oh bloody Hell, that’s not a good sign!
He walked to the front door and busted it open. He walked inside seeing the masked killer raising
a knife above Albert’s head.
Maxwell: Albert, look out!
Albert: What?!
He turned around only the knife landed straight on the top of his head.
Maxwell: Shit.
He grabbed a vase and threw it at the killer. The killer dodged it and tried running off but Maxwell
lunged on top of it, knocking it down.
Maxwell: Bloody murderer.
Maxwell hit the killer in the face with his fist. The killer pushed Maxwell to the side, and punched
Maxwell in the face. Maxwell fell over, knocked out. The killer took off running away from the house.
A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER…
Maxwell started waking up. He rubbed his cut head.
Maxwell: I knew I was weak but I didn’t know I was that bloody weak.
He got up off the ground.
Maxwell: It got away again.
He walked out of the house back to his motel room.
THAT NIGHT
Maxwell laid the newspaper on the table in his motel room. He started reading it.
Maxwell: The 3rd murder occurs tomorrow night at the director’s house on 357 Robert Lane.
Maxwell stopped reading the paper.
Maxwell: Can’t be bloody late this time. Have to stop these bloody murders! Something was
weird though on the last two murders. For some reason the killer acts like it doesn’t want to kill me. Like it’s
just trying to knock me out, oh well.
THE NEXT NIGHT
357 ROBERT LANE
Maxwell walks through the yard belonging to the film director.
Maxwell: Have to find the bloody killer this time.
He peered through a window seeing the masked killer walk through the house with an axe.
Maxwell: Shit.
He walked to the front door and busted it down. He ran in the house punching the killer in the
face.
Maxwell: Damn, why am I always late?
On the ground in front of him was the director’s dead body with blood all over it.
Maxwell: Not letting this fogging killer get away this time!
Maxwell smashed the killer’s hand against the wall making the killer drop its axe. Maxwell
grabbed the axe and slammed it on the killer’s head. Blood splattered all over the wall.
Maxwell: Well, that takes care of that fogging matter, arsehole killer.
Maxwell wiped sweat off the top of his head.
Maxwell: What The Fook!?
On his hand was blood. He touched the top of his head seeing blood all over his hand.
Maxwell: My head’s been cut deep. How? Let’s see who this bloody murderer is first.
Maxwell pulled off the killer’s mask revealing…Maxwell.
Maxwell: What the bloody Hell is going on here? I can’t be the killer.
Suddenly in his mind he envisions flashbacks of himself putting on a mask and grabbing weapons.
He sees himself killing people. He sees himself get in a car crash. He then sees himself lying on a hospital bed.
Maxwell: Bloody Hell! I killed these people. I got in a car crash, I was in a coma. I became an
inventor…I forgot about me killing these people.
He stands up and looks in a mirror seeing his head spilt open.
Maxwell: It was me. I was the killer.
He fell on the ground in a puddle of blood.

Note:
I
remember when I wrote a story just like “Looking For Myself” when I was in third grade. So, when I started writing
stories again this year, I came back to “Looking For Myself”, and rewrote it. The inspiration for it came right
after I watched “The Time Machine” movie on the telly. Overall, the story is great, but the twist ending is just
plain excellent on this story, making it one of me favourites off this collection.
